Diamond Steppers prepare for culture fest at Bradford

Bradford, PA (PTTP) – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s Diamond Steppers are set to perform their “Deep in Roots” show at the Bromeley Theater on Friday, Feb. 24, to celebrate Black History month. Along with the live performance, Baily’s Beads and the First Take Media club will be providing food, drinks, and prizes.

The Diamond Steppers perform a genre of dance called stepping or step-dancing. The dance served as a method of communication in the early African American slave community, and serves as a link back to African tribal dance. Although the origin of the verbiage “stepping” is up for debate, the genre now serves as a form of entertainment.
