Pitt Panthers to the NFL

PITTSBURGH (PTTP) — Pitt NFL Pro day took place on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the UPMC Rooney Center. Pitt had 13 guys showcasing their talents in front of NFL coaches, scouts, and media.

The Panthers who participated in Pro Day were: Israel Abanikanda, Deslin Alexandre, Habakkuk Baldonado, SirVocea Dennis, Owen Drexel, Erick Hallet, Brandon Hill, Gabe Houy, Calijah Kancey, Marcus Minor, Carter Warren, Jared Wayne, and Tylar Wiltz.

From the Bench Press to the 40 yd dash, the Panthers had a range of positions working out. From O- Linemen, Defensive Tackles, Linebackers, and multiple offensive positions.

These guys had a record-breaking day. Shocking scouts and leaving Head Coach Pat Narduzzi with a smile on his face. Linebacker SirVocea Dennis and Wide Receiver Jared Wayne both reached a height of 41 inches in the vertical. ACC Defensive Player of the Year Calijah Kancey and former Pitt Captain Deslin Alexandre continued to open up the eyes of NFL teams during their position drills and running Back Izzy Abanikanda had himself a record-setting day with a 4.34-second 40-yd dash, 41 in. vertical jump, and 10’8 in. broad jump. Which would have been the highest jump for RB at the combine.

Overall the 13 panthers who worked out have represented Pitt Football well. With the support from their teammates and coaches the entire day, these men are all well-prepared for the next level of football. But for those they are leaving behind, Pitt Football will continue to go strong producing the next group of athletes under Coach Narduzzi. The 2023-24 season will kick off Sept 2, 2023.
