“KDKA Next Take” Revolutionizes Overnight Radio with Pitt Student Hosts 

PITTSBURGH – In a bold move to redefine radio for younger audiences, Pittsburgh’s historic KDKA-AM 1020, now rebroadcast on FM at 100.1 MHz, has launched “KDKA Next Take,” a news, information, and talk program hosted by University of Pittsburgh students. 

The show runs in the 1 am-5 am slot Monday through Friday, “KDKA Next Take” features Margaux Rentzel, Jaime Ely, and Ryan Tarabokia as hosts, with Dylan Foster as the producer and KDKA Radio’s Amy Mauk as the Executive Producer. Rentzel and Ely have taken Pitt to the Point before, and Foster is a returning member this year. 

These student hosts and producer are under the tutelage of Kevin Michael Smith, Director of Undergraduate Studies in Broadcast at Pitt, who has been preparing them for this opportunity. 

KDKA emphasized its commitment to local news and content, viewing the partnership with Pitt as a means to inject significant local content overnight with new perspectives. 

“KDKA Next Take” signifies a significant collaboration between KDKA and the University of Pittsburgh, showcasing a joint effort to provide a platform for young voices in media.
