PITTSBURGH, Pa (PTTP) – The Pitt Jazz Ensemble is a jazz band that consists of many students, all in different majors, who rehearse and showcase their love of jazz. These students play everything from trombone, trumpet, drums, and more.
Vice President and Trumpet player, Theo DiBiasi, explains why the Jazz Ensemble is important. “It’s nice to just have a space where we can keep playing even though it may not be as serious or very competitive. It’s just really fun to get creative with each other.”
President and Trumpet player, Galen Lovejoy, expresses that, “It’s really important to just have that creative outlet for all kinds of students.” Many students in the club are not studying music, so having the Jazz Ensemble on campus is needed.
Member and Trombone player, Kittrick Danzeisen, explains how not only does the club feel like a community, but also allows people on campus to learn more about jazz. “It’s not a very popular music genre, so I’m glad that we can bring it to our campus, and hopefully get more people listening.”
If any other organizations want the Jazz Ensemble to play at any events, contact them at 412-624-4125.
The Pitt Jazz Ensemble will be hosting their Spring Concert on April 19 at 8 p.m. in Bellefield Hall. Make sure to check it out.
