Pitt-Bradford Students Create Original Theater Piece, ‘Berlin Walls’

BRADFORD, PA (PTTP)- At the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, their theatre department performed ‘Berlin Walls’ last week, April 4-7, in the Studio Theater in Blaisdell Hall.

Two main theatre productions are performed during the school year, one being in the fall,‘The Wolves’, and one being in the spring, ‘Berlin Walls’. The production explores the question: “What drives us apart? How do we fill the gaps caused by separation?” The Berlin Wall divided East Berlin from West Berlin from 1961 to 1989.

Dr. Kevin Ewert, Professor of Theatre at Pitt-Bradford, coordinated the creation of the play by students. Students created all of the scenes through improvisations based on their research, including historical events like the escape of Heinz Meixner. Through their creative efforts, they have succeeded in creating a captivating and thought-provoking piece of theatre that promises to leave a lasting impression on audiences.

The students who created and are performing in the piece are David Beltrez, Zoe Hager, Adriana Herrera, Sean Luce, Abby McCullough, Miranda Mong, Paige Nootbaar, Nate Nuzzo, Eliver Russo and Ethan Strother.

Under Dr. Ewert’s guidance, this collaborative endeavor has not only provided the students with a platform to showcase their artistic abilities, but also garnered a deep sense of mutual respect within the theatrical community at Pitt-Bradford.
