Pittsburgh Penguins to Play in “4 Nations Face Off”

PITTSBURGH, PA – The NHL will host the first “4 Nations Face Off” tournament from 12
February – 20 February 2025. The tournament will feature four teams, each representing a
different country- USA, Canada, Sweden, and Finland. The games will be held at the Bell Centre
in Montreal, Canada, and TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.


Each team has named a captain for the tournament. The USA will be captained by Toronto
Maple Leafs Center, Auston Matthews. Canada will be led by Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney
Crosby. Sweden will be led by Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman. Lastly
Finland, who will be captained by Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov. Alongside captain
Victor Hedman will be two Pittsburgh Penguins; defenceman Erik Karlsson has been named
alternate captain for Sweden, and winger Rickard Rakell will also play on Sweden’s offensive
line.


Fans and analysts of the Penguins hope to see a rush of momentum from the team once they
return to regular-season play after the tournament. The team has a record of 22-24 as of 6
February, and sit second to last in the Metropolitan division.
