PITTSBURGH (PTTP) – Pittsburgh’s local amusement park is opening early for the first time in almost a century. Just southeast of Pittsburgh, Kennywood’s early opening is partially because of 412 Day, or Pittsburgh Day. The opening brings different events with it, including an inaugural Eggcellent Celebration, which includes an Easter celebration, brunch, and a meet-and-greet with the park’s new Easter Bunny, Tufts.
Many of Kennywood’s rides will be open for operation, including the Steel Curtain which was closed during the 2024 season due to a modification project.
The early opening comes after Kennywood was acquired by Herschend, an Atlanta-based entertainment company that owns other amusement parks, including Dollywood, Kentucky Kingdom, and Silver Dollar City. New ownership may bring new changes to security, food, and in-park entertainment.
