PITTSBURGH (PTTP) – Forbes Magazine published its yearly article on Ivy League-caliber universities that remain outside of the Ancient Eight. This year, two Pittsburgh institutions made the cut: Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh.

A growing number of employers across the United States have started to turn away from hiring Ivy League graduates, with 37% of surveyors claiming they are less likely to hire those with Ivy League educations and 12% claiming they would never hire Ivy Leaguers. With this turn away from the elite schools, Forbes selected ten public and ten private universities that are outpacing Ivy League graduates in terms of employment.

All public universities chosen have an acceptance rate of 50% or less, and the private institutions have a median SAT score of 1530. The public universities chosen include Georgia Tech, Purdue University, University of Texas at Austin, United States Military Academy, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Michigan, University of North Carolina, University of Pittsburgh, University of Virginia, and William and Mary.

The private universities chosen include Carnegie Mellon University, Emory University, Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, Northwestern University, Rice University, Tufts University, University of Notre Dame, Vanderbilt University, and Washington University in St. Louis.
