PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) — Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Downtown Pittsburgh on Saturday as part of the nationwide “Hands Off!” protests opposing President Donald Trump’s administration and the policies of Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency. The Pittsburgh rally was one of over 1,200 events held across all 50 states, organized by a coalition of more than 150 groups, including civil rights organizations, labor unions, and LGBTQ+ advocates.
Protesters in Pittsburgh voiced concerns over government downsizing, cuts to social services, and policies affecting marginalized communities. Signs reading “Hands off our democracy” and “No king, no fascist, no more” were prominent among the crowd.
The “Hands Off!” movement has gained momentum nationwide, with significant turnouts in cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Anchorage. Demonstrators are united in their opposition to the administration’s actions, including mass firings of federal workers, agency closures, and cuts to health and social services.
In Florida, approximately 10,000 individuals participated in protests across the Tampa Bay area, reflecting growing political engagement in traditionally conservative regions.
The White House has defended its policies, stating that efforts are being made to safeguard federal benefits for eligible citizens. However, protesters nationwide continue to express dissatisfaction, emphasizing the need to protect democratic institutions and vulnerable populations.
As the “Hands Off!” protests continue to unfold, participants in Pittsburgh and across the country remain committed to advocating for their causes and voicing opposition to the current administration’s policies.
