
Pittsburgh, PA (PTTP)— Sandra Matoushaya’s roots and long history of public service shape who
she is today. Moving to the United States from Zimbabwe in 2002, Matoushaya graduated from
Pitt and then worked there as an administrative assistant from 2009-2010.
From 2010-2022, Matoushaya worked as the Zimbabwe partnership coordinator with the
Western Pennsylvania United Methodist Church. Her work with providing clean water,
electricity and fighting malaria earned her a Pittsburgh Magazine 40 Under 40 honoree in 2022.
Matoushaya now works as the community disaster program manager at the Greater Pittsburgh
Region’s American Red Cross. As Pittsburgh has been dealing with record-breaking snowstorms
and building fires, Matoushaya’s job is central to keeping the Pittsburgh region safe.
