PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP)- Heinz Chapel Choir has been around since 1938. They perform a multitude of acapella music including repertoire in Latin. The HCC performs in the Heinz Chapel Memorial for their seasonal concerts. The Heinz Chapel Choir works on and performs music from a variety of time periods, cultures, and languages.

The choir is an auditioned based group having rehearsals for a total of four hours a week. One does not have to be a music major to audition. The group is very diverse yet they all have one thing in common, the love of choral music. The ensemble has gone on international tours, had sold-out concerts in Heinz Chapel in December, and participated in a Chamber Choir Festival to encourage a cappella singing to high schools. The group will spend their time in Estonia and Latvia this summer for their International Tour from May 4 to May 14.

The choir is currently run under their conductor Dr. Susan Rice. Rice is a Professor in Music at the University of Pittsburgh since 2014. Rice is the tenth conductor of the Heinz Chapel Choir as well.

Currently, the HCC has been tabling in Towers Lobby to sell singing valentines. These valentines can be purchased in person at Towers or through the link on their website. Their previous conductor Dr. John Goldsmith curated a new arrangement of the song “Please Be My Valentine” for the group to sing for customers.
