PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP)— Blue and yellow goes well with maroon and white, with the Gamma Sigma Sigma chapter at the University of Pittsburgh continuing its 73 year legacy as a beacon of compassion and servitude in aiding with local communities.
Pitt’s chapter was founded in 2012, with the national chapter being founded in 1952 on the foundation that service can bring people together. However, it isn’t just rooted in fulfilling service hours, but meeting new people and building sisterhood and companionship within the community through service projects. Service events at Pitt have included cooking for family homes, handing out feminine hygiene products, and helping out with food banks.
At the University of Pittsburgh, Gamma Sig is heavily involved with charity initiatives like Pitt Dance Marathon to raise money for the UPMC Children’s Hospital. This year, Pitt Dance Marathon has raised more than $95,000 for the hospital.
At Pitt’s chapter of Gamma Sigma Sigma, the sentimentality of feeling at home is a priority, where sisters build lifelong friendships and unforgettable experiences helping out their community.
