Pittsburgh, Pa. (PTTP) — Firstly, this week brings a breath of fresh air to Steelers fans as Tom Brady has announced his retirement from professional football. During his career, Brady was 10-2 against the Steelers with a passer rating of 115.1, the best of any quarterback against any singular team (NFL, 2020). In his 22 year career, Brady made it to the Super Bowl 10 times, while winning seven of those.
This Sunday, The Bengals play the Rams in Los Angeles for Super Bowl LVI. The University of Pittsburgh will be featured in this matchup as Rams’ Aaron Donald, and Bengals’ Tyler Boyd are both alumni of the university. Aaron Donald played at Pitt from 2010-2013, while Tyler Boyd played from 2013-2015.
Before attending the University of Pittsburgh, both players grew up in western Pennsylvania, competing in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL), and reside in the area during their offseason. In 2019, Aaron Donald returned to Pitt and gave the university an outstanding seven figure donation to the football team. Suffice to say, both these guys are proud Pittsburghers through and through.
Lousaka Polite, a former Pitt, and National Football League player, sat down to discuss the upcoming Super Bowl, and the exposure having two impactful players, playing on football’s biggest stage will have for the university’s football program.
Super Bowl LVI takes place this Sunday in Los Angeles at 6:30 PM (EST). Wherever you’re watching from, at one point or another, its almost certain that a Pittsburgh native will make an impact play.
