Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra
PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – Pittsburgh’s cultural district is full of a wide variety of
different events and performances, but few are as prestigious as Pittsburgh’s Symphony
Orchestra. They recently won their third grammy for their recording of Anton Bruckner’s
“Symphony No. 7”.
There are several different programs offered, each tailored towards a different person.
“Fiddlesticks” is a concert designed for younger children, featuring music from popular
kids films. PSO Disrupt is catered towards young adults, featuring shorter concerts and
cocktails.
The orchestra also does performances of famous film scores. Themes from “Star Wars”
and “Lord of the Rings” are played all throughout the year, giving people the opportunity
to experience the music live.
In addition to personalized experiences, tickets are made more affordable for students.
Current University of Pittsburgh students are able to get discounts to shows, like the
PSO Disrupt, online on the orchestra’s website.
This weekend in particular sees the orchestra performing a very iconic work; that being
Beetoven’s Pastoral. It will be playing from the 28th to the 30th at Heinz Hall.
