Maryam Otun is a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Emergency Medicine and minoring in Computer Science. She was born in Lagos, Nigeria before her family moved to Louisville, Kentucky in hopes of finding new opportunities. She is looking forward to graduating college and making new memories.
Maryam as always had a passion for the arts and entertainment. The hopes of doing something she is passionate about led her to join The Pitt News. She is a member of Pitts AFROTC, where she is trained to become a future officer in the United States Air Force after college.
Maryam is also a part of the Women in Surgery Empowerment (W.I.S.E) club at The University of Pittsburgh. Here she meets with multiple women in the medical field and understands the ins and outs of their job. In hopes of figuring out what part of the medical field she would like to focus on.
