I’m Michael Estocin and I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I developed a passion for
broadcasting when I was in high school, I was captivated by the TV series ‘Dawson’s Creek,’ and
Dawson’s character inspired me to become a filmmaker. The series played a part in shaping my
career goals. I took a ton of film and communication courses as well to see if this was the right
journey for me.
It wasn’t until my Junior year when I took my first broadcasting course. I had one of the
best professors for broadcast 1, Lisa Johnson, and she made the class so much fun. Since then, I
knew broadcasting was my passion and have been taking courses to further enhance my
knowledge of the broadcast world.
I am a senior at the University of Pittsburgh planning on graduating this spring. I have
very many interests and most of them include television and all things that have to do with
broadcast. I am very interested in listening to music, mainly pop artists and Taylor Swift. I am
very excited to start the Pitt to the Point season and cannot wait to meet everybody
