Annie the Musical on Tour, on Facebook
PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – The iconic musical, “Annie”, is returning to Pittsburgh this
weekend. The musical follows the orphaned Annie as she is taken in by a rich man who
wants to improve his image. From the orphanage to her new life, Annie continues to
search for her parents.
The musical, based on a comic strip from the 1920’s, first debuted on Broadway in 1977,
and has since become revered as one of the most popular musicals ever. It has received
seven Tony awards, and has been played in theaters around the country countless
times.
With the play focusing particularly on young talent, it has an incredibly big impact on
theater students. Stefania Dimichele, a Pitt theater student and president of the musical
theater club, feels adamant that “Annie” is an important staple in the theater world for
young actors and actresses.
“I think giving a big role to children like and child actors”, Dimichele said”, it’s one of
those few shows that kinda really spotlights that.
“Annie” will be performed live at the Benedum Center today on the 14th, and tomorrow
on the 15th. Tickets can be purchased from the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust website, as
well as from various ticket sites.
