PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – A photography and graphic illustration interactive exhibit is shedding light on the intersection of art, mental health, and community cohesion during the COVID-19 pandemic right here in Pittsburgh.
Dubbed “Art Heals Pittsburgh,” the project is the brainchild of Sara Baumann and Jessica Burke, faculty members in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences. Through their collaboration, the exhibit aims to invite viewers to contemplate the profound role of art in our lives, particularly during times of crisis.
On display from March 18 through May 31, Art Heals Pittsburgh showcases a diverse array of artistic expressions, ranging from photographs capturing moments of resilience amidst adversity to graphic illustrations exploring the complexities of human emotions and thoughts. Baumann and Burke hope that the exhibit will not only provide a platform for artistic expression but also spark meaningful conversations about mental health and the importance of community support during challenging times.
The interactive nature of the exhibit allows vowers to engage directly with the artwork, fostering a sense of connection and empathy within the community. Visitors are encouraged to reflect on their own experiences and emotions as they navigate through the thought-provoking displays.
Art Heals Pittsburgh serves as a testament to the power of creativity in promoting healing and resilience, providing a place for people to feel comfort and motivation during uncertain times.
