PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – The University of Pittsburgh added another ACC Champion and AllAmerican to its ever-growing list, as senior track athlete Je’Nyia Burton rounded out her indoor
track career.

At the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships, Burton finished on the top of the podium in
the 400-meter race with a time of 51.82 seconds, giving her the fastest time in Pitt Track and
Field history. Burton also finished in the top five of the 200 meter-dash, with a time of 23.36
seconds.

“It just felt good, because I didn’t think it was possible, and some people didn’t think it was
possible,” Burton said. “So, to be able to go out there and surprise myself and everyone else, it
was just incredible.”

Soon after, Burton competed at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, where she
placed in the top 16 to earn NCAA Second Team All-American Status.

“I think I’m still processing it. It felt good, but it also felt normal because I know there’s more to
achieve, especially with the outdoor season coming up. Overall, it felt good to do the impossible
and know that I can go outside and do it all over again.”

The Panthers will start their outdoor track and field season this weekend at the USF Alumni
Invitational.
