PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – Duquesne University President Ken Gormley announced Saturday that he will step down in July 2026, ending his decade-long tenure marked by significant accomplishments. Under Gormley’s leadership, the university opened its medical school, achieved record-breaking fundraising, and successfully navigated the challenges of the global pandemic.
In 2021, the Duquesne Board of Directors decided to extend Gormley’s presidency for another five years after a successful first term. He is turning 70 on March 19th but has expressed that he has no plans to fully retire.
While he is stepping down as president, Gormley is going to assume the role of chancellor at the university. He told the university that he is going to work closely with the next president and maintain relationships with alumni and local leaders.
Ken Gormley is committed to serving the students at Duquesne University and can be found at many different events on Duquesne’s campus. He maintains a regular presence among the students as well.
Before Gormley was president, he served as dean and was a professor in the university’s law school. He has seen significant change throughout his career at Duquesne and much of that change was made by him.
