PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) — The Heinz History Center is being nominated again by USA
Today as the best history museum in America. The Heinz History Center currently holds that
spot as they were voted #1 last year by the readers of USA Today. Their hope is to be able to
keep that title.
There are 20 nominees for the award with The Academy of Motion Pictures Museum, the
National Civil Right Museum, and the National World War II Museum being some of the other
nominees. The Heinz History Center already holds the title of being the largest history museum
in the state.
The goal of the center is to honor and preserve the past of western PA and by telling the stories
of this area and the people who have lived here. The President and CEO of Heinz History Center,
Andy Masich, speaks on how some of the other museums talk about and display creatures and art
of the past, but the Heinz Center talks about the people, and that is what people are able to relate
to. It is the hope to gain the attention of the people and have them learn something in the process.
The people have the power to decide if the Heinz History Center gets to keep this honor. The
voting occurs online and is open now through Feb. 10 with only one vote per day being allowed.
