Pittsburgh, PA (PTTP) – The Hillman Library hosts a plethora of resources that are free
to all students. On the third floor of the Hillman, you can find the Archives and Special
Collections of Pitt.
Several glass display cases present items ranging from books to dolls. These items
each carry a cultural and historical significance, and all the time and effort of procuring
and setting up these displays is managed by the Archives staff.
These staff members, some of which are Pitt students, make it their responsibility to put
out these items for all. Like Julia Hodges, a Pitt student that is responsible for the horror
collection currently on display.
There is far more the Archives have to offer than what is on display. They have a
collection too big to display all at once, so it is put out on a rotation. Students interested
in seeing items not currently on display can make a formal request, and are able to
observe the items under supervision
