PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – An East Liberty-based AI company, Abridge, has come up with a solution to help decrease the burnout of nurses and physicians and increase their one-on-one time with Patients.
Abridge’s CEO Shiv Riv, a doctor at UPMC, started the app in 2019, who wanted to create something to help reduce the burnout he was experiencing along with his peers. He created an app that is already in use at over thousands of clinicians and is being incorporated into new health centers every week.
The app has a way to translate the conversation between the patient and the staff into documentation charts, decreasing the paperwork a nurse has to do. This includes the paperwork patients have to fill out for health services and insurance information
UPMC Patient Care Technician, Emma Botelho has stated how if she has the opportunity to use AI, it would make her life easier and she would be able to focus more of her time with her patients.
The company has stated that they would not be replacing medical staff with AI, but incorporating it into their lives to make their jobs easier.
