MILLVALE, PA (AP) — Suspension Theatrical Arts, a prominent Millvale-based theatre company, has recently secured fiscal sponsorship from the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization New Sun Rising. This partnership not only grants Suspension Theatrical Arts nonprofit status but also solidifies its position among the growing number of charitable production companies in the local area.
The move comes as Suspension Theatrical Arts doubles down on its mission to make theatre more accessible to the residents of Millvale and its surrounding communities. With a clear focus on community engagement and inclusivity, the company aims to bring the transformative power of theatre to a broader audience.
“We’re thrilled to have the support of New Sun Rising as we continue our mission of making theatre a vibrant part of the Millvale community,” said Patrick Mayoral, festival producer of the Suspension Theatrical Arts project. “This partnership allows us to expand our reach and impact, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience the magic of live performance.”
Mayoral, no stranger to the art of performing, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having founded and performed for the concert series “Be Gay [Do Crime]” as a drag queen.
In a bold and innovative move, Suspension Theatrical Arts is gearing up to host a 24-hour theatre festival, showcasing the creativity and talent of local artists. Despite the tight timeframe, Mayoral remains undaunted, emphasizing that “sometimes the best work happens in situations like this.”
The idea for the festival emerged just two months ago when Mayoral was approached to spearhead the project. “Normally, performances are booked months in advance,” Mayoral explains, “but this one is written, directed, and performed in just 24 hours.”
Participants in the festival will have the unique challenge of creating and staging a complete theatrical production within a single day. Despite the time constraints, Mayoral is confident in the ability of the performers to rise to the occasion and deliver exceptional work.
As the curtain rises on Suspension Theatrical Arts’ latest endeavor, the Millvale community eagerly anticipates a weekend filled with creativity, collaboration, and unforgettable performances.
