PITTSBURGH (PTTP) — Pittsburgh is known for its deep-rooted sports culture, from football to hockey, but a lesser-known sport is drawing new attention after the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Curling, which gained widespread visibility during the Games, is seeing renewed interest locally through the Pittsburgh Curling Club. The club offers opportunities for people of all ages and skill levels to learn and compete in the sport.

Club leaders say interest typically spikes during Olympic years, as viewers become intrigued by the strategy and precision showcased on the international stage. This year has been no exception, with new members joining shortly after watching Olympic competition.

One new curler, who joined just two weeks ago, said the Olympics inspired him to give the sport a try.

“First time playing, I was addicted. I signed a membership the first day,” he said.

The club provides introductory sessions for beginners, league play for more experienced athletes, and community events designed to make the sport accessible. As Olympic momentum continues, local organizers hope curling will remain a growing part of Pittsburgh’s diverse sports scene.
