Johnstown, PA (PTTP) – On Feb. 3 and 4 of this year, Pitt Johnstown’s Dance Ensemble put on their annual show at the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center. The show, titled “Time of Our Lives,” featured roughly 30 students.
The program was established back in 1992, making this year its 31st year as an on-campus event. Dancers and nondancers alike are free to join this program, awarding them one practicum credit per term for being actively involved in the production.
The Pitt Johnstown Dance Ensemble focuses on promoting dance as a form of art with the goal of showing the students how to appreciate it. They feature dance genres like ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and modern dance forms in their performances.
Practicing for the show is a five-month process, beginning in September. Those five months are filled with choreography, rehearsals, and outfit decisions. The Pitt-Johnstown Dance Ensemble is one of the largest completely student-run organizations on their campus, so all hands must be on deck for the production to be a success.
