PGH Trivia Brings Pop Culture Fans Together

NEXT Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – For Hannah Willson and Jared Bogolea, trivia is more than just a game —
it’s a way to celebrate pop culture and build community.

PGH Trivia, their growing trivia business, hosts themed nights at bars and breweries across
Pittsburgh, attracting fans of everything from Twilight to RuPaul’s Drag Race.

“I think the fun thing about doing themed trivia is it’s not people who like trivia; it’s people who
like the thing that you’re covering,” Willson said. “It really brings out a lot of people who
wouldn’t normally come out to a trivia night.”

Willson started PGH Trivia in 2021 when she hosted a Real Housewives trivia night at Two
Frays Brewery in Garfield. Bogolea attended that first event and introduced himself afterward.
The two quickly became a hosting duo, bringing their easy banter and shared love of pop culture
to new audiences. PGH Trivia now hosts weekly events at Two Frays, Hazel Grove Brewing in
Hazelwood, and Dive Bar and Grille in the North Hills. The events feature unique prizes,
including handmade crafts, CDs, and even a can of tuna — a surprising hit among attendees.

The duo also embraces a low-tech, interactive format. Unlike many modern trivia nights that rely
on smartphone apps, PGH Trivia sticks to pen and paper, something many players appreciate.
Their bonus rounds add another layer of fun. During Twilight night, players had to guess the
hosts’ “Kiss, Marry, Kill” choices for vampire dads. If they got it wrong, they didn’t earn points.

As PGH Trivia grows, Willson and Bogolea hope to host trivia every weekday and launch a
podcast to keep the fun going outside of the bar.
