PITTSBURGH (PTTP)- Therese Pitman got her start at the University of Pittsburgh as a team captain on the women’s lacrosse team during their inaugural 2021-22 season. She balanced being a leader of the new team with earning a master’s degree in public administration and also holding multiple intern positions with the athletics department.
Pitman is currently the Director of Student-Athlete Development. Her job is to cultivate relationships between external partners to assist student athletes as they pursue future careers. Pitman works as the primary life skills advisor for several Pitt sports programs.
“Every day of this job looks so different, and I wouldn’t want it any other way,” Pitman says about her job. “One day I might be meeting with student athletes to review their resumes, the next day I might be facilitating a leadership workshop.”
Pitman is a member of the Panthers United Board, which promotes Equity, Diversity and Inclusion among student-athletes. She instructs courses such as Life After Sports and First-Year Academic Foundations.
Never afraid to balance multiple responsibilities at once, Pitman is currently working towards a doctoral degree in higher education.
