Pitt Men’s Basketball Snapped the Longest Active Winning Streak in College Basketball

PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – The Pittsburgh Panthers Men’s Basketball team picked up a massive win over the Virginia Cavaliers, Tuesday, Feb 13, with a score of 74-61.

The Panthers played on Virginia’s home court at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia, in which they snapped a 23-game home winning streak – the streak was the longest active one in college basketball, creating new, exciting opportunities for the Panthers.

The last team to defeat the Cavaliers in Charlottesville occurred way back in December of 2022 by Houston, who was ranked No. 5 at the time. In that season, Houston went on to win their conference title and compete in the Elite Eight.

In Tuesday’s game, Pitt played with high energy and determination against Virginia, by scoring 35 points in the first half, which is eight more than the second-highest scoring total of an opponent in Charlottesville in the current season. Only five teams have scored over 70 points against Virginia, and Pitt has just made a loud name for themselves by jumping onto the small list of teams.

Pitt has won six of their last seven games and is on a four-game win streak, and is eager to take down many more high-ranking teams like Virginia. The Panthers return home to the Petersen

Events Center in Pittsburgh this Saturday, February 17 against Louisville at 6:30 pm.
