PITTSBURGH (PTTP) – The University of Pittsburgh’s largest student-run philanthropy, the Pitt Dance
Marathon (PDM), is set to commemorate its 10th anniversary on March 29, 2025, with a daylong event at the Charles L. Cost Sports Center.
Established in 2015, PDM has been dedicated to supporting the UPMC Children’s Hospital of
Pittsburgh through fundraising and awareness initiatives. Over the past decade, the organization
has engaged thousands of students, faculty, and community members in its mission to improve
children’s health outcomes.
“Our journey over the past ten years has been incredible,” said Claire Emch, PDM President.
“We’ve seen the Pitt community come together year after year to make a tangible difference in
the lives of children and their families.”
The upcoming marathon will feature continuous dancing, entertainment, and stories from
families benefiting from the hospital’s services. Participants are encouraged to register in
advance and fundraise leading up to the event. All proceeds will directly support the UPMC
Children’s Hospital Foundation.
In the lead-up to the main event, PDM has organized various activities, including the annual PieA-PDMer fundraiser and a talent show, to engage the campus and broader community. These
events not only raise funds but also foster a sense of unity and purpose among participants.
As PDM marks this milestone, organizers reflect on a decade of impact and look forward to
continuing their efforts to support pediatric healthcare. “The future starts with us,” Emch added.
“Together, we can light the way for more birthdays, miracles, and futures.”
