PITTSBURGH (PTTP) — Pitt Dance Marathon (PDM) is the largest student-run philanthropy at the University of Pittsburgh that works yearlong to raise funds for UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. These donations have gone to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care. Since its inception in 2005, PDM has raised over $2,000,000.
PDM and the Pitt students involved work yearlong leading up to their big all-day dance marathon event. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, March 23. It starts at 10 a.m. and the final fundraising total will be revealed at 8:30 p.m. in The Charles L. Cost Sports Center.
Not only do the PDM members come together to participate in this event, but also many other University of Pittsburgh organizations including fraternities, sororities, and clubs. The Miracle Children and their families also take part in this event.
This year the Broadcasting Club @ Pitt will be producing the 10-and-a-half-hour show. It will air live on Pitt to the Point’s YouTube channel as well as PDM’s channel.
