PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – This past Tuesday, February 27th, the University of Pittsburgh hosted
its annual day of giving. This is a twenty-four-hour fundraising event in which donors can
choose specific departments, clubs, or organizations within the university to give to. The money
goes to efforts such as scholarships, financial aid, and research.
Leaderboards tracked the amount of money given throughout the day, encouraging people to
donate more to their chosen department. There were also power hour challenges where donations
were matched. The Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences had the most donors with
943 individuals.
There were different events in person as well. There was a Find-A-Panther scavenger hunt,
whereupon scanning the QR code attached to the panther, participants could give $50 to an
organization of their choice. The Center 4 Creativity hosted a karaoke toast. This year, Pitt’s Day
of Giving raised almost $2,466,661 from 11,473 donors. This marks the highest number of
donors to date for the Pitt Day of Giving, and there were donations from all 50 states.
