PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh’s annual Pitt Day of Giving once again brought
together alumni, students, faculty, and supporters to raise millions for scholarships, research, and
student organizations.
Held on this past Tuesday, February 25, the 24-hour fundraising campaign encouraged Panthers
worldwide to give back to Pitt. The initiative, which began in 2017, has since generated millions
in funding for academic programs, athletics, and student life.
“This day highlights the power of our Panther community,” said a university spokesperson.
“Every donation makes a difference in the lives of our students and faculty.”
To boost participation, the university hosted a variety of on-campus and online
activities throughout the day. Students engaged in donation challenges, social media contests,
and interactive events designed to build school spirit. Tabling events across campus provided
giveaways, snacks, and opportunities for students to learn how donations impact their
organizations.
Funds raised through Pitt Day of Giving directly support initiatives such as student scholarships,
research grants, and campus groups. Leaderboards and donor challenges incentivized
participation, with schools and organizations competing for bonus funds.
Last year, Pitt Day of Giving raised more than $3.8 million from over 11,000 donors,
demonstrating the enduring commitment of the university’s supporters.
