Pitt Football Hosts NFL Pro Day

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (PTTP) — On Wednesday, March 27, the University of Pittsburgh football
team hosted their 2024 NFL Pro Day at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

A total of 31 NFL teams had representatives at the event to watch the 12 former members of the
team who are eligible for the draft perform various skills.

CB M.J. Devonshire, WR Bub Means, and OT Matt Goncalves were three Pitt players who were
invited to the NFL combine that took place earlier this month, while the rest had their only
chance to prove their talents on Wednesday. The day included events such as bench press,
followed by drills in the practice facility like the forty-yard dash and vertical jump.

One performance that turned some heads was CB A.J. Woods. Woods was not invited to the
NFL combine but showed up Wednesday with something to prove. He ran an unofficial 4.30-
second 40-yard dash and had the highest vertical jump at 37 ½ inches.

“I think I proved that I’m worth a draft pick. Obviously, I came out here and was able to put
together a really good day, showcase all my skillset and technique that I’ve worked on,” Woods
said.

Another impressive showing was by OT Matt Goncalvez, who played only three games at the
beginning of the season before it was cut short by a serious toe injury. He was not able to
perform at the combine due to his ongoing recovery but ran a 5.12 40, jumped 30 ½ inches, and
benched 225 pounds 19 times on Wednesday.

The NFL draft is set to be held Apri 25-27 in Detroit, MI. We hope to hear the names of some of
our very own Pitt Panthers called next month.
