PITTSBURGH, Pa (PTTP) – The standard sleep per-night recommendation by cdc.gov is 7 or more hours for adults.
To help keep our sleep in check, one may resort to over-the-counter supplements, including
melatonin. Recently, an article published by Medical News Today cites a study from the Journal
of the American Medical Association, concluding that over the last decade, subjects have more
than doubled their melatonin dosage.
The increase in melatonin causes alarm for potentially hazardous effects. Medical Minute reporter, Vinit Joshi, spoke with Krittika Banerji, a Pitt student and Ms. Marybeth Gallagher, a retired nurse and author of the article.
