PITTSBURGH, Pa (PTTP) – Last week, the CDC altered their long standing mask guidance to incorporate data on hospitalizations. Under the new guidance, indoor masking is advised only in areas that are considered high risk.
Allegheny County and others surrounding it are now considered to be low-risk areas. The Covid-19 preventative measures recommended by the CDC in low-risk areas include vaccinations and testing for those with symptoms.
On March 3, the University of Pittsburgh COVID-19 Medical Response Office announced that Pitt will still require masks despite the new guidance. The COVID-19 Medical Response Office does anticipate changes to their masking policy, but not until after the spring break.
