Your Guide to the 2025 Student Government Board Elections

Student Government Board elections are coming up, with executive and board positions on the ballot. Students will be able to vote for the president, the primary advocate of the student body, vice president, who oversees sessions of the executive board, as well as seven board positions. Campaign season officially began on Wednesday and students can vote via electronic ballot on March 11th.

February marks National Black History Month, and Pitt is honoring it with a series of events throughout the month. On February 20th, students can join the Black Action Society for an open mic night, where they can celebrate the work of Black creators through poetry, dance, and song. On February 22nd, the Black Choir of Pittsburgh will host a celebration of Black musical heritage at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. To end the month, Pitt will host its annual Leroy Irvis Celebration, honoring the Pitt alumnus who became the first Black speaker of the Pennsylvania House by recognizing seven members of the community for acts of volunteerism and dedication to social justice.
Pitt Rings in Lunar New Year with “Beyond the Page” and Global Hub Event

The Year of the Snake is upon us, and the University Library System celebrated the Lunar New Year with a “Beyond the Page” exhibit on January 29th, which explored Hillman Library’s collection of East Asian book culture and printing technology. The exhibit’s curators, Runxiao Zhu and Hiroyuki Good, unveiled historical texts and technology from the 12th to the 20th centuries and examined their cultural significance. Additionally, the Asian Studies Center hosted a Lunar New Year celebration in Posvar Hall at the start of the New Year on January 22nd.
