PITTSBURGH (PTTP) — Get ready to strut, pose, and vogue with the Supermodels of Pittsburgh Superstars! Located in Cranberry Township, Pittsburgh Superstars is a competitive cheerleading gym that teaches children and young adults not just how to stunt, tumble, jump, and dance, but also about how to become a leader. These philosophies have paid off, as the gym has had major success, especially with the Supermodels, an International Open Level 6 Worlds Team.
Aimee Saffle-Nicewarner, the owner of Pittsburgh Superstars and the coach of Supermodels, says that winning is not everything. “Yes, we’re hard and we’re strict, and we want to win, but you can only have one winner. At the end of the day, all these things they’re learning here are life lessons they can take with them forever, so we try to focus on accountability and teach them how hard life really is and how to handle the ups and downs as a cheerleader.”
Two Supermodels also shared their takeaways from cheering at Pittsburgh Superstars. Tumbler and main base Sara Fink said, “You can be the most talented athlete in the world, but if you don’t work hard, you’re not going to reach your full potential.” This was reiterated by side-base Brooklynn Loveless, who explained, “Being at Superstars has taught me how to be committed to something and how to put in the work toward specific goals; it’s also taught me leadership skills.”
The Supermodels will compete at Worlds at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in late April. Already boasting bronze and silver medals, they hope to bring the gold back to Pittsburgh.
