PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – On Wednesday March 26, hundreds of parents, students, and teachers attended a public hearing to hear if there is a go ahead for the closure of Pittsburgh public schools. They ultimately decided to postpone the vote, as many people expressed their concern as to why this was happening and wanted more data to back it up.
This postponement comes after the Pittsburgh School Board public hearing on monday. Where people yet again stated their concern as to why this was happening.
Most of the people in attendance opposed the schools closing altogether, however, a small group acknowledged the need for the change.
The plan was to close 14 schools, reconfigure the grade structures at 12 schools, and find alternative uses for existing facilities to open three new schools.
The updated proposal will be presented to the Pittsburgh School board in April.
