PITTSBURGH, PA – PNC Foundation has awarded a three-year, $450,000 grant to the Pittsburgh Scholar House (PSH) to support its Wayfinders Program, which aids single parents pursuing higher education. The grant will allow PSH to expand its services, focusing on removing barriers for low- to moderate-income students re-enrolling or completing their degrees. The initiative includes a two-generation model to support both parents and children in achieving academic success, aiming to break the cycle of poverty.
The PSH, a nonprofit organization, supports single-parent families by providing educational opportunities and housing assistance. It recently announced that its inaugural CEO, Diamonte Walker, will depart at the end of March. The PNC Foundation, ranked as Pittsburgh’s third-largest by grant payouts, is a key funder of this transformative work, with Sally McCrady, head of the foundation, praising the program’s impact on economic mobility.
The grant is a part of PNC’s broader commitment to helping families build sustainable futures through education.
