PITTSBURGH (AP) — Six-year-old twins Major and Mekhi Muhammad are making Pittsburgh a
little sweeter, one cup at a time.
The pint-sized entrepreneurs, known as the “Steel City Twinz,” run a mobile lemonade stand
that pops up in different Pittsburgh neighborhoods each weekend. From South Trenton Avenue
to Beechwood Boulevard, the twins’ colorful stand has become a familiar sight for locals.
Their homemade menu features five flavors: classic lemonade for traditionalists, plus peach,
strawberry, lavender, and kiwi options for more adventurous taste buds. The twins make
everything themselves and cover the cost of ingredients from their own pockets.
The boys’ unique pricing model — “pay what you want, or what you can” — ensures everyone
can enjoy a refreshing drink regardless of budget.
On any given weekend, you might spot police officers, paramedics, and neighborhood residents
lined up for their lemonade fix. Passing drivers often honk in friendly support, with some regular
customers rolling down windows just to wave at their favorite young vendors.
For those looking to catch the Steel City Twinz in action, there’s just one rule: check their
Instagram. The twins only set up shop on Saturdays and Sundays, and their location changes
weekly.
