PITTSBURGH (PTTP)- Downtown Pittsburgh has made a slow economic recovery since COVID-19 emptied out its offices in favor of remote work. Today, the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership estimates that more than half of Downtown residents work from home for two or more days out of the week — but companies are working to find a solution.
PNC officials have created the Pittsburgh Commuter Parking Program, which will provide free parking to employees for sixty days — if they return to the office. Roughly 500 employees could benefit from the program.
While PNC’s corporate headquarters are in the heart of Downtown, the parking itself will not be in Downtown. Instead, PNC is offering parking spots to its employees on the North Shore, in Gold Lot 1 of Acrisure Stadium.
The bank will run shuttles, free of charge, from the stadium to its Downtown offices. These shuttles will operate for limited hours in the morning and evening, only on weekdays. According to the Post-Gazette, PNC has also made arrangements to have Pittsburgh Police at these pickup and dropoff points for employee safety.
After 60 days of free parking, PNC employees will still be able to park in Gold Lot 1 for a discounted daily or monthly rate.
