PITTSBURGH, PA (PTTP) – President Joe Biden visited Pittsburgh Wednesday morning on April 17. He traveled to the United Steelworks (US Steel) in downtown Pittsburgh.
Biden embarks on his Pennsylvania presidential campaign tour with three stops that include Scranton, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia. Biden won the state of Pennsylvania in the 2020 presidential election against Former President Donald Trump.
He voiced to the unionized steel workers that he would not allow the purchase of US Steel by a Japanese merger. This comes after the US Steel stockholders voted, with a majority rule, to approve the $15 billion merger. He also noted he would nearly triple the tariffs to the steel sent to China. Biden acknowledged that US Steel is an artifact and an iconic symbol of America’s identity.
Pittsburgh holds a dense population that is very crucial to winning the 19 electoral votes in Pennsylvania in the presidential election.
Biden will end his Pennsylvania campaign travels in Philadelphia on Thursday April 18 as the Pennsylvania primary will be Tuesday April 23.
