MOON TOWNSHIP, PA (PTTP) – On Sunday March 16th, the Robert Morris University Colonials were selected to participate in the 2025 men’s college basketball tournament. After defeating Youngstown state in the Horizon League Tournament, the Colonials earned their invitation to the big dance.
This will be RMU’s first appearance in the tournament since 2015, when they were eliminated in the round of 64. They made the tournament back in 2020, but the event was cancelled due to the pandemic. They enter the 2025 tournament as the 15th seed and with a record of 26-8.
With the first round starting the week of March 17th, RMU is scheduled to play the University of Alabama on Friday, March 21st. Alabama is the 2nd seed going into this match up Friday and is favored to win. However, the Crimson Tide did lose the SEC Tournament on Saturday before the tournament selections were made.
The event will take place at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio at 12:40 pm. Cleveland is only 2 hours away from Robert Morris University. Alumni, faculty, and students are excited about this tournament appearance and many are optimistic that anything can happen in March Madness.
