PITTSBURGH, Pa. (PTTP) – Spring football is in the air once again, as Pat Narduzzi and the Panthers, fresh off an ACC championship victory, look to use this Spring to prepare to duplicate their efforts come next fall.
With new faces on both the coaching staff and the starting lineup, the Panthers have an early challenge as they look to defend their ACC title. With 2021 Heisman Candidate quarterback Kenny Pickett moving on to the NFL and former Offensive Coordinator Mark Whipple resigning. The Pitt offense has a short time to turn things over to projected starter transfer Quarterback Kedon Slovis and Offensive Coordinator Frank Cignetti Jr.’s new system. Head Coach Pat Narduzzi spoke optimistically about the transition thus far, noting that “We’re right where we should be.” Fortunately for the Panthers, Spring ball is the perfect time to put the pieces together, and that is just what Narduzzi hopes to do with the new-looking 2022 Panthers.
“Obviously offense working on some new things, some old things that we’ve done in the past, but some really good stuff on offense and we got a lot of pieces to put together, that’ll be the big thing for this fall is to figure out who the 2022 offense, defense, and special teams are going to be,” explains Head Coach Pat Narduzzi.
We will look to see what level of ball Narduzzi can get his squad playing come fall, as Pitt opens their season with the historic “Backyard Brawl” rivalry against West Virginia. Despite the amount of work cut out for this team, they are determined to repeat as ACC champs.
