PITTSBURGH, Pa (PTTP) — Pitt’s studio arts students are bringing their creativity to life in the Detour Exhibition. Senior art students and underclass students with exceptional work were tasked with creating final pieces to present to the community. A gallery of their artwork is set up in the Frick Fine Arts Building on Pitt’s campus. The gallery features sculptures, paintings, photographs, animations, projections, and more. Several of the pieces are interactive and encourage visitors to get involved in the experience.
“It’s a way to elevate this excellent work and encourage students for the future,” said Pitt professor Delanie Jenkins, a leading organizer of the event.
The students use this platform as an opportunity to challenge themselves and expand their own ideas, then to promote them.
Mia Stanton is a senior whose piece is the headline of the exhibition. She was happy with the visibility that this gallery offers to both her and her classmates. “To have this space and to have this show, and the advertising, it’s a super good opportunity.”
This Detour Exhibition will take place through April 29. Entry is free for students and the public. The contributing artists will also host a talkback session to discuss their work at the gallery in the Frick Fine Arts Building on April 13.
