The Pitt News Rundown

PITTSBURGH, Pa (PTTP) – Pitt to the Point collaborates with The Pitt News to share their top three stories for the week. 

On Tuesday evening, Ryan Young was officially elected to serve as the president of the Student Government Board for the 2023-2024 academic year. Young beat independent opponent Corbin Makar with a 620-vote margin. The Illuminate slate, which Young was a part of, ran on a platform that’s core focus was to eliminate sexual misconduct on Pitt’s campus. In addition, all eight of the board candidates that ran were elected to serve in the upcoming school year.

The Fashion Business Association held its annual fashion showcase this past weekend. This year’s show, EcoVision: Upcycling In Style, was the first show fashion show the organization has put on since 2018. The showcase highlighted the possibilities and the importance of sustainable fashion.

Heinz Chapel celebrates Women’s History Month with their annual Women in the Windows Tour. Starting back in 2018, the tour explores the history of the women depicted in the chapel’s stained-glass windows. The theme for this year’s tour is Women Who Tell Our Stories, and it focuses on notable women who encapsulate the history of their time through storytelling. The last two dates for this year’s tour are March 26 and March 27.
