The Pitt News Rundown

On Tuesday, March 26, about 250 people gathered together in the William Pitt Union for the debate between Pitt College Democrats and Pitt College Republicans. The event was hosted by BridgePittsburgh, a political club that aims to change the way people approach disagreement. Each member of their respective groups got the chance to debate the topic of their choosing. During the event, there were a lot of topics discussed, including the economy, foreign policy, affirmative action, and much more.

On March 22, eight acts performed at Pitt Factor, a competition to decide what band will get to open for J.I.D. at Pittsburgh’s Bigelow Bash on April 7. After an eventful night of great bands and performances, the judges named 9FiftySeven the winning band who will perform at Bigelow Bash. In addition, the runner-up band that will perform if 9FiftySeven cannot make it was JR and the Woodpeckers. Kibler, the bands’ drummer, said the band will mostly perform original songs but might play some new music and covers.

The Pitt men’s swimming and diving team is set to head to Indianapolis for the 2024 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship, which takes place at IU Natatorium from March 27-30.
