Pittsburgh, PA (PTTP) – Pitt To The Point collaborates with The Pitt News this week to broadcast four of their top stories.
During a Politics of Water class, a Pitt instructor made a comment comparing mask-wearing to “being gassed in Auschwitz” — the largest of the German concentration camps . Shocked by this comment, a Jewish Pitt student expressed their discomfort with the incident a day later on Reddit. The professor, Vasili Rukhadze (Rook-hids) later apologized over email to the class.

Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey held a virtual town hall to discuss the Shadyside developer’s Oakland Crossings proposal on Wednesday. The project would rezone 17 acres of South and Central Oakland, paving the way for a grocery store, “walk to work” housing and a pedestrian bridge over the Boulevard of the Allies. The conference comes amid local concerns and the mayor delaying approval for the project by 30 days in January

Pitt students and faculty stopped by the Global Hub on Wednesday to enjoy the Lunar New Year celebration organized in a collaboration with the Asian Studies Center. The event included a photo booth, making feng shui charms and origami tigers, eating mandarin oranges and dumplings as well as watching parades that took place across the world.
