Pittsburgh’s women’s soccer team secured a 3-1 win against Duquesne during the third game of their 2023 spring soccer schedule, thanks to their impressive defensive performance. The victory marked their fourth consecutive win in the City Game.

A celebration titled “Love on the Lawn” was organized by Pitt Tonight and sponsored by the College of General Studies Student Government Board. The event, which featured live music from various genres, marked the end of Pitt’s Pride Week and Women’s History Month. Proceeds from the event went to several organizations, including the UPMC’s Children’s Miracle Network, Rainbow Alliance, and Pitt’s chapter of Days for Girls, a non-profit organization that provides sustainable menstrual products to girls worldwide.

La’Tasha Mayes, a Democrat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, criticized Pitt for allowing “transphobic” speakers on campus, which she believes promotes harm to transgender members of the community. Mayes, who graduated from Pitt in 2004, delivered a keynote address at Alumni Hall in honor of the 50th anniversary of Rainbow Alliance and Pitt’s Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies department.
